The Galileo FS-135DX is mounted on Galileo's Super Glide Altitude Azimuth mount. It's easy use up and down, left and right movement is great for beginners and casual star gazers alike. It also makes terestrial viewing easy when a 1.5x erecting lens is used. The Super Glide mount features slow motion controls in both axis for precision adjustments. The Mount is attached to a very sturdy, fully adjustable, pre-assembled metal tripod with retractable rubber feet. The tripod also features an accessory tray with slots to place 4 1¼″ eyepieces or lenses. The optical tube assembly attaches to the mount by an adjustable tube clamp which in combination with the adjustable counter balance weights ensures easy fluid movement of the telescope at all times. The telescope tube features heavy duty metal primary and secondary mirror cells. The telescopes optical tube assembly is finished out with a large 2″ format focus tube. 2″ to 1¼″ adapter is included as well.
The Galileo FS-135DX optical tube assembly features a 1100mm focal length. The Primary mirror is a 135mm heavy duty mirror cell with push / pull collimation screws. The primary mirror is aluminized with Silicon Monoxide Quartz overcoat providing 92% reflectivity and a resolving power of .86 arc seconds. The secondary mirror has an obstruction of approximately 25% linear (approximately 6% of the total area). The optical tube assembly is diffraction limited at λ4 (1/4 wave in Sodium light). The focuser is a 2″ format metal helical rack and pinion focuser with a 2″ to 1¼″ adapter to enable the use of larger 2″ eyepieces. The finderscope is Galileo's CIR electronic finder which is similar in design to the Tel Rad finder. Included with the FS-135DX are an 1¼″ 6.8mm to 16mm zoom eyepiece (42° apparent field of view @ 6.8mm), an 1¼″ 25mm Astroscopic eyepiece and a 3 element 3x Barlow. The 25mm is a 3 element, fully color corrected, modified Rank Kasspheric eyepiece with an apparent field of view of 52°.
