Q1: Will all the accessories (including the GPS Adapter) for the Nexstar 114SLT work on a Nexstar 114GT?

A: I do not have a lot of information on the new SLT's yet but the accessories will fit just fine.

Q2: How well does this scope track for purposes of astrophotography? Is it comparable (due to computer control) to the performance delivered by an equatorial mount?

A: Yes, though for extremely long term photography an equatorial is preferred, but this is great for an amateur.

Q3: Which model of softcase bag will fit this telescope and tripod?

A: At this time there is not a specific case made for this telescope. A good idea is to use a duffel bag lined with some form of cushioning. It is an inexpensive way to have a nice carrying case.

Q4: What is inside the box of Nexstar 114SLT?

A: Telescope, tripod, 25mm and 9mm eyepiece, hand controller, accessory plate, literally everything you need to use it right out of the box except the batteries.

Q5: I ordered the Zoom Eyepiece 8-24mm and the RS232 data cable. I did this even though I now have the Celestron StarSeeker 114mm model which looks just like the NexStar 114 SLT. Will these accessories work with the StarSeeker model?

A: Yes, both should work just fine in the StarSeeker.

Q6: Can I input coordinates from a hand held GPS into the controller instead of day, date, etc. for alignment?

A: Unfortunately, GPS coordinates wouldn't be accepted. It doesn't make much difference, though, since you'd still need to do the three-star alignment.

Q7: On Tue Mar 8 18:23:12 2005 an answer was given about "extremely long term photography" - how long is extremely long? 30 seconds? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? 3 hours?

A: With exposure times longer than 5 minutes or so, you'll begin to notice the effects of field rotation. The star or other object you're tracking on will remain sharp and clear, but stars around it will gradually change position due to the Earth's rotation. You'll see star streaks then instead of star pinpoints in the background.

Q8: What extra accessories are needed to attach a DSLR (Canon EOS Rebel) to the telescope?

A: You'll want a device like the Zhumell Universal T-Adapter and a T-Ring to fit your Canon EOS.
