Peak performer!

The CGE 1400 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is one of Celestron's "top-of-the-line" astronomical instruments. When it's used in visual mode, you can see all Messier Catalog, NGC, IC, and Caldwell objects. Used in the Fastar configuration for f/2 CCD imaging, the CGE 1400 can display the faint detail of a telescope twice its aperture used visually. That means you'll capture stunning images of the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae for viewing later or for printing and display.

Versatile instrument

The optical tube assembly of the CGE 1400 weighs only 27.5 pounds, meaning the telescope is still portable enough to be taken to dark skies. It also boasts more than three times the light-gathering power of an 8-inch telescope, allowing you to see farther and fainter, even in urban areas. This telescope is especially useful as a solid platform for long-exposure photgraphy with optional CCD cameras or photographic equipment, making it a serious scientific research tool for college astronomy programs or amateur astronomers alike. With sophisticated software features like Hibernate function, too, the CGE 1400 can maintain its star alignment night after night without needing to be re-aligned. That makes it an ideal instrument for a permanent observatory.

High-performance features

  • German equatorial provides superior stability
  • Autoguider port
  • Permanent periodic error correction and equatorial alignments

    XLT coatings

The CGE 1400 comes with premium XLT coatings. These use state-of-the-art, thin-film, vacuum-deposition technology. To ensure consistent optical coatings of the highest quality the process is tightly monitored and controlled by highly trained technicians. Prior to coating, each optical element is thoroughly cleaned and inspected to ensure proper adhesion of the films during the coating process. Materials used in our reflective and anti-reflective coatings, including aluminum, hafnium oxide, titanium dioxide, silicon dioxide, and magnesium fluoride are the purest available, exceeding 99.99 percent. The result is image clarity so stunning it must be seen to be believed.
