Q1: Is it possible to use AutoStart 497 on a Meade LX 50 8"? I bought an used LX 50 with no controller.... Can you help me?
A: i am sorry but the Autostar controllers will not work with the LX-50 telescopes. As the LX-50 is not autostar compatible. Although the Magellan II hand controller will work well the LX-50 what it will do is tell you where to manually move the scope to. That will be your best option.
Q2: Will this controller work on a ETX-80AT-TC?
A: Unfortunately, no, the #497 Autostar controller will NOT work with the ETX-80 scope. The ETX-80 takes the #494 Autostar.
Q3: Hi There, Does this Autostar controller now have where could track the Sun? Thanks, Joe
A: Autostar controllers for Coronado scope have solar tracking capability. None of the Autostar controllers for Meade scopes do, however.
Q4: Will the 497 work with my DS-2114ATS-TC; meade.com \"appears\" to say yes, and web searching provides nothing substantial.
A: Yes, it will. It's the same unit.
Q5: I have a hardly used ETX 70 that was a gift 5 years ago. I just noticed that I have a 497 controller instead of a 494/495. It appears to work. Is the telescope not powerful enough for all the objects that are downloaded in the 497?
A: You are correct. The #494 Autostar controller's database contains 1,400 objects that the user can expect to bring in with the ETX-70's 70mm aperture. In contrast, the #497 Autostar for the ETX-125PE telescope contains 30,000 objects in its database.
