Q1: Will the Meade Deep Sky Imager Pro (DSI PRO) w/AutoStar Suite run on the Mac OSX platform (Tiger)

A: Unfortunately, I do not believe that the Deep sky imagers are compatible with Macs. The system requirements for this product are as follows: Minimum System Requirements Pentium-II 400MHz computer (Pentium-4 2GHz computer recommended), 98 Mega-Bytes of RAM (512 Mega-Bytes recommended), 200 Mega Bytes of available hard-drive space (>1GB recommended), CD ROM drive, Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP (Windows XP recommended), USB 1.1 (2.0 recommended) available full-powered port.

Q2: I was wondering where I can find the product number of these items: the Meade DSI with Autostar Suite, Equatorial wedge LX90 adapter plate?

A: The SKU number for the DSI with Autostar Suite is 04522. The SKU for the Meade Equatorial Wedge with LX90 Adapter Plate is 07002-1.

The new Deep Sky Imager PRO is the latest innovation from Meade Instruments. Designed with the intermediate to advanced amateur astrophotographer in mind, the Deep Sky Imager PRO is 2.3 times as sensitive and has four times the resolution of the color Deep Sky Imager. The high-performance, easy-to-use, monochrome, CCD camera allows every astronomer to shoot and process stunning deep-sky photographs of galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and planets. Equip the new Deep Sky Imager PRO with Meade's high-quality RGB filter set and produce dazzling color (RGB and LRGB) images.

High-sensitivity CCD sensor

Utilizing a high-sensitivity, monochrome CCD sensor from Sony the Meade Deep Sky Imager incorporates a 16-bit A/D converter to produce images with incredibly low noise levels and broader dynamic range.

High-speed PC connection

The DSI PRO uses a USB 2.0 High Speed connection that allows fast data transfer. Actual download time for daytime or planetary imaging is up to 5 frames per second. For longer exposures, the download time is .5 frames per second in order to sustain a high signal-to-noise ratio. There is virtually no delay between the time the image is taken and the time it appears on your computer screen. The Deep Sky Imager PRO is also backward-compatible with USB 1.1.

Multiple-imager operation

Meade's new AutoStar Suite will support any number of Deep Sky Imagers and one LPI. You can use a separate guide scope and Deep Sky Imager as well as having one for prime focus and wide field. Any of the imagers can be selected for guiding. The sky's the limit with this imager. The only performance constraints will be the speed of your computer, the amount of RAM it has and availability of USB ports. A 2Ghz PC with 512 MB of memory can easily run three Deep Sky PRO Imagers.
