Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: what do the numbers mean on binoculars? Are 7/50 stronger than 10/50? Thanks

A: Binoculars are designated according to their magnification and the size of their objective lenses (the big lenses opposite the eyepieces). So a 7x50 binocular would have 7-power magnification and a 50mm objective lens, while a 10x50 binocular would give 10-power magnification and have the same 50mm objective lenses. Objective lens size is important because larger lenses admit more light and produce brighter images in twilight and on gray days.
